Curtains is operated by Billion Flower Moon Studios LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company.
Where you can join#
Curtains is available in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, except:
- Colorado
- Iowa
- Minnesota
- North Carolina
- Ohio
Mississippi, Nebraska, Tennessee and Texas: Apple must confirm your age. These states' laws require us to check every member's age. You can join from them only if Apple confirms that you're 18 or older, for example from the payment method or ID on your Apple Account. An age you only state yourself isn't enough, and your iPhone needs a recent version of iOS for Apple to confirm it. If Apple can't confirm your age, we can't open an account, and we keep nothing you entered.
Everywhere else, we also ask Apple to check your age when you sign up. If Apple can't confirm it, you can still join, but we may review your account. Any answer showing you're under 18 stops sign-up.
Curtains isn't available in US territories, such as Puerto Rico and Guam, or outside the United States.
Sign-up is open everywhere Curtains is available. We don't keep a waitlist.
We may open or close places. When we do, we give notice on this page. That doesn't change our Terms.
Where you live is what counts#
You must live in a place where Curtains is available. Eligibility follows where you live, not where you happen to be.
We work out where you live from the city you give us. The app suggests one from your connection's IP address, and you confirm or change it. Curtains never asks for permission to use your device's location, and never uses it.
We also check which state your connection comes from, without asking for permission, when you sign up, change your city or buy Tickets, and at a few other moments, only to keep Curtains closed in places where it isn't available. We keep only the latest result. If you sign up with a city where Curtains is available, but your connection comes from a place where it isn't, we can't open your account until it's clear that you live somewhere Curtains is available. If you're travelling, try again from home. If you use a VPN, turning it off may help.
Travelling. A trip doesn't change where you live. If you're a member and you visit a place where Curtains isn't available, the app keeps working, but you can't buy Tickets there.
Moving. Moving between places where Curtains is available changes nothing. If you change your city to one in another state, we review the change before we update where you live, and if that state's law requires Apple's age check, you take it first. If your connection keeps coming from another state, the app may ask whether you've moved. We never change where you live on our own.
If you live somewhere Curtains isn't available.
- We close the account of a member who lives where Curtains isn't available, and refund all their unused Tickets (Terms, Section 2.3). That includes members in a place we close.
- If you move to such a place permanently, we close your account and refund all your unused Tickets. You can tell us at support@curtainsdating.com; you don't have to wait for us to notice (Terms, Sections 2.3 and 7.2).
National mode, Local mode and the leaderboard#
- National mode. Everyone starts in National mode, where discovery shows you active members anywhere Curtains is available, including far from you.
- Local mode shows you members in your city first. When you've seen everyone there, it shows you members from outside your city. It switches on automatically for a city when the number of members there who were active in the last 21 days reaches the number shown on the leaderboard. We don't promise when, or whether, that will happen for any city.
- Cities are the ones members give us, never ZIP codes. Your city is the one you confirmed.
- The leaderboard, in the app, shows each city's count of members active in the last 21 days, and the number needed to unlock Local mode. Every number is a true count: we don't seed, estimate or round up. Counts under 20 show as "fewer than 20".
